Son muchos mitos los que hay alrededor de los medicamentos genéricos en Colombia, de ahí surgen interrogantes acerca de que tan seguros y eficaces son. Por medio de la iniciativa ‘Salud y vida para más personas’, La Santé quiere generar confianza e informar sobre su consumo resaltando su eficacia, seguridad y calidad. En el país, los genéricos representan el 12% del total del mercado de medicamentos, convirtiéndose en una oferta asequible que ayuda a cuidar la salud de los colombianos
En 1962 aparecieron por primera vez los medicamentos genéricos en Colombia, los cuales permitieron que el 80% de la población del país tuviera acceso rápido y de bajo costo a tratamientos, esto último porque los nuevos fármacos tenían una rebaja entre el 50% y el 91% en comparación con el precio de los medicamentos comerciales disponibles para la fecha.
A pesar de los mitos e imaginarios infundados que comúnmente se escuchan sobre estos, se ha comprobado científicamente que los medicamentos genéricos son seguros y eficaces. Los estudios de bioequivalencia respaldan esta aseveración y, básicamente, demuestran que actúan de la misma forma en los organismos que uno de marca. Esto en cumplimiento con las normas y buenas prácticas de manufactura exigidas por la Organización Mundial de la Salud -OMS- a todas las compañías farmacéuticas y laboratorios tanto de tratamientos genéricos como de marca.
En el país, los genéricos representan el 12% del total del mercado de medicamentos, convirtiéndose en una oferta que, por ser asequibles económicamente hablando, ayudan no sólo a mantener el equilibrio financiero del sistema de salud en el país, sino también, y principalmente, a cuidar la salud de los colombianos. Es por ello que La Santé, una compañía con más de 32 años de trayectoria y aportes a la salud de los colombianos,2 presenta su campaña de sensibilización ‘Salud y vida para más personas’.
“Queremos invitar a los colombianos a que siempre se informen de fuentes oficiales, dado que es la única manera de mitigar tantos imaginarios y opiniones sesgadas sobre los medicamentos genéricos. Es claro que estos contribuyen con la democratización en el acceso a medicamentos en el país y esto se traduce en que más personas tengan la posibilidad de tratar síntomas, combatir enfermedades y, en últimas, salvar sus vidas”, afirmó el Dr. Luis Guillermo Jiménez Villa, director científico de Laboratorios La Santé.
