Un grupo de profesionales entre los que figuran psicólogos y educadores especiales de varias regiones del país, pensando en aquellas personas en condición de discapacidad intelectual, idearon un proyecto que nace desde la interacción, participación, reflexión y diálogo constante, que se tuvo como equipo interdisciplinario en el trabajo y acompañamiento a este tipo de ciudadanos.
De acuerdo con Vanessa Vargas, una de las coautoras, integrante del grupo Tejiendo Caminos, en el contexto colombiano de acuerdo con el Censo 2019 según el Dane, tenemos una población de 42’786.766 de los cuales 3’065.361 tienen condición de discapacidad, es decir son el 7,1 por ciento de los colombianos, los cuales constantemente siguen luchando por obtener unas mejores oportunidades y eliminar barreras y prejuicios.
“Ser conscientes de esas luchas, las historias, sentimientos y experiencias tanto de los jóvenes y adultos con discapacidad y sus familias, es lo que nos permite como profesionales crear espacios de encuentro para tejer vivencias desde lo social, contribuyendo cada día a través de un conjunto de valores y conocimientos para que estas personas sean observadas más desde sus habilidades que desde sus limitaciones”, señaló Vanessa quien abre espacios en la capital risaraldense para proyectar su iniciativa.
Es así como a través de Tejiendo Caminos, pretenden situar a los jóvenes con situación de discapacidad intelectual, sus familias y/o cuidadores, como actores sociales que posibiliten una transformación en su entorno, para ser visibilizados como personas autónomas, reconocidos desde sus derechos y habilidades en una sociedad dentro de la cual puedan desarrollar libremente y con dignidad sus propios planes y proyectos de vida y ocupar un rol dentro de la sociedad, de acuerdo a sus habilidades y fortalezas.
