De acuerdo con las directrices establecidas por el Ministerio de Educación Nacional, la Secretaría de Educación de Dosquebradas presentó el Calendario Escolar para el 2018, para los establecimientos educativos de la ciudad.
El secretario de Educación, Leonardo Granada explicó que la elaboración del mismo se hace de acuerdo con la norma señalada en la Ley General de Educación, en las cuales se determinan las actividades para el primer y segundo período semestral, las cuales se distribuirán de la siguiente manera:
Desarrollo Institucional
Correspondiente a 5 semanas, las cuales en el primer período irán del 09 hasta el 19 de enero; del 26 al 30 de marzo. Y en el segundo período del 8 al 12 de octubre y del 03 al 7 de diciembre.
Atención Directa de Alumnos
Comprende 40 semanas, distribuidas así, el primer período del 22 de enero al 23 de marzo y del 02 de abril al 15 de junio. Para el segundo período del 09 de julio al 05 de octubre y del 16 de octubre al 30 de noviembre.
Receso Estudiantil
Correspondiente a 12 semanas, en el primer período se cumplirá del 9 al 19 de enero, del 26 al 30 de marzo y del 18 al 29 de junio. Para el segundo período, del 03 al 06 de julio, del 08 al 12 de octubre y del 3 de diciembre de 2018 al 5 de enero de 2019.
Vacaciones de Docentes y Directivos Docentes
Corresponde a 7 semanas, del 18 al 30 de junio en el primer período y del 03 al 06 de julio y del 04 de diciembre al 05 de enero de 2018 para el segundo período.
De otro lado, las Instituciones Educativas deberán programar la participación de toda la comunidad educativa para la celebración de las siguientes fechas sin reducir ni afectar los días de trabajo académico.

- 29 de abril (Día del Niño y de la Niña)
- 21 de mayo (Día de la Afrocolombianidad)
- 20 de julio (Día de la Independencia)

- 9 de septiembre (Día de los Derechos Humanos)
- 12 de octubre (Día de la Raza)
De igual manera, se programó la celebración del Día del Educador para el 15 de mayo, y se incorpora un día para el cumplimiento de la jornada por la excelencia Educativa “Día E”.
